Working with Reach Out to the Community, a Manchester-based homeless support charity, I led a full website UI redesign to make their online presence more user-friendly and on-brand. Their original site lacked clarity and structure, which made it harder for users to donate, learn about their services or get involved.
McHugh Media delivered a refreshed digital identity that aligned with their values by designing a clean, intuitive layout with clearer calls to action, simplified navigation and updated visuals that reflect the energy and care they bring to their community work.
What made this project stand out was the immersive approach I took. To truly understand their mission, I joined the team on an emergency outreach run at 2am, supporting their work in freezing conditions around Manchester Airport and Wythenshawe. I also volunteered in their Chorlton charity shop, learning more about the day-to-day realities of the people they support.
This hands-on experience directly informed the tone and structure of the website, allowing me to build a digital space that felt real, compassionate and purposeful. It’s a great example of how McHugh Media goes beyond the screen, combining design strategy with real-world understanding to create meaningful impact.
